First Writing Ceremony

Our first grade Dual Language class participated in a First Writing Ceremony. The First Writing Ceremony is a special tradition that marks the beginning of a child’s learning journey. In this parent and student interactive event, children wear the scholar’s cap, receive the red dot of wisdom, and write Chinese character “人” (person) with calligraphy brushes. We start with “person” because before learning any subject at school, the most important thing is to learn how to be a good person and a responsible citizen. This ceremony encourages students to make good choices, respect learning, and grow with curiosity and kindness, with parents sharing this important milestone.
