Mrs. Wong's Weekly Update

October 5, 2026

Imaginary machine

Dear Red Hawk Families

Our students were thrilled to welcome Imaginary Machine for an exciting and inspiring assembly all about the magic of storytelling and creative writing! 📚🎭

Students learned what makes a story exciting, including interesting characters, a setting, a problem or challenge, exciting events, and a satisfying ending. Most importantly, they discovered that great writers use their imagination, creativity, and unique ideas to bring stories to life.

The assembly encouraged our students to dream big, take creative risks, and have fun with writing. ✏️💡 We can’t wait to see the wonderful stories our young authors create!

Please encourage your student to submit their own exciting story! ✏️📖 Their imagination could become a story brought to life by Imaginary Machine when they return in February!

Keep writing, keep imagining, and let your stories come alive!

Halloween Candy Donation Contest
A big thank you to all of the families who have donated candy for our upcoming Trunk-or-Treat event! We appreciate your generosity and support in helping us create a fun and memorable experience for our students.
Currently, Mrs. Harrison's class is leading the contest, with Mrs. Falls' class close behind. Remember, the competition is still on! The class that collects the most candy donations will earn a Shave Ice Party as a special reward.
Keep those donations coming, and thank you for your support!

Trunk or Treat
If you are interested in signing up for Trunk or Treat, we still have spaces available!!

Bringing Learning to Life

Our Grade 1 students had a fun and exciting learning experience exploring different kinds of apples! They tasted and compared the apples, shared their observations, and discovered which varieties they liked best.
The students also became little scientists as they experimented with floating and sinking. Through hands-on exploration, they made predictions, tested their ideas, and observed what happened.
It was a wonderful day of tasting, experimenting, discovering, and learning together!

Learning Through Culture and Tradition

Our G1 DLI students had a wonderful time participating in a Chinese Writing Ceremony, where they learned about an important Chinese cultural tradition. Through practicing calligraphy and learning about the tradition of becoming an “official student,” students were reminded of the importance of respect, responsibility, good manners, and being a good citizen.
It was a meaningful and joyful experience that connected language, culture, and character development—a wonderful way for our young Red Hawks to learn and grow!

ATTEND TODAY, ACHIEVE TOMORROW

Regular attendance is essential for student success and remains a priority at Hidden Trails. Every school day provides valuable learning opportunities that are difficult to make up when missed.
🎉 Congratulations to our 5th-grade students for earning the highest attendance rate during the week of September 28-October 2!
Thank you to our students and families for making attendance a priority. Keep up the great work!

Project Wisdom

This year, we will focus on one Wise Choice each month. We encourage families to help reinforce these important character traits at home so that we can work together as a team to support our students' growth.

October Wise Choice: Choose a positive attitude.
I choose a positive attitude, noticing what is good, right, and wonderful in myself and others. I learn to laugh at myself.

Our Star of the Month Award Rally for September Wise Choice will be held on Wednesday, October 7. Be sure to keep an eye out for an award notification, as your student may be recognized for demonstrating outstanding character and making positive choices at school. We look forward to celebrating our students' achievements! 🎉👏🌟

Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS)

Our Red Hawk Online PBIS Store is now open! Be on the lookout for exciting new prizes that your child may bring home as a reward for demonstrating positive behavior at school. We are proud to celebrate and recognize our students for making great choices every day!

We would like to recognize and celebrate our students' positive behavior through our PBIS Reward Program. Students earn PBIS reward points, which they can redeem for prizes through our Red Hawk Online Store.
If you would like to support this program, we welcome donations of small toys, trinkets, or individually wrapped candy. Please drop off donations at the school office and label them "PBIS." Thank you for your support of our Red Hawks!

Important Reminders

Pick Up/Dismissal Reminders:

For the safety of all students, please do not park, drop off, or pick up students in any red curb area, especially in front of the MPR. There is no breakfast drop-off or pick-up permitted in front of the MPR. Students should only be dropped off and picked up at the designated yellow curb areas.

These procedures are in place to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families. When everyone follows our traffic expectations, we can provide a safer arrival and dismissal experience for all. Unfortunately, there have been traffic accidents in the past, and we want to do everything possible to prevent such incidents from occurring again.
Our traffic expectations are outlined in the Parent Handbook (under "Traffic Safety") and have been shared multiple times through ParentSquare. We respectfully ask all families to follow these guidelines at all times to help keep our students safe, even when traffic supervisors are not present.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to maintaining a safe school environment for everyone
